February 26, 2024
Sign-ups for the CanAm Tournament are now posted in the shed. The tournament is open to ALL members from all levels of play groups.
This is our annual dual between Canadians and Americans. You may sign up for either Team Canada or Team USA, but not both (for those of you with dual citizenship)!
The tournament is a one day tournament (March 9) and costs nothing to enter. There will be three rounds of bowling all played in "Team" format: Fun Bowls, UBC Triples, and Quads. Team Captains will be appointed and make up the teams for each round from those that signed up to play. We will also be doing a "Ring of Fire" event prior to the start of Quads.
Following the tournament, all members of the Palm Creek Lawn Bowling Club are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting on March 9th in the Santan Room (approximately 3:30 pm). We will be reviewing club finances, discussing club activities and holding elections for the four Executive board positions: Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and President. We will also be looking for volunteers to serve on special committees to assist the board in the day to day running of the Club as well as special events (tournaments, socials, Fun Bowls, etc.)
If you are willing to serve the Club as a member of the Executive Board or have any questions regarding the duties of the various positions, please see Laverne Lein, current Vice President, who will be coordinating the election process. Nomination forms are in the shed and last day to nominate any one is March 7th.
Immediately following the General Meeting, we will be serving dinner and beverages. The dinner will be free to members and $5 for spouses (payable at time of sign-up). Beverages will be $1 for wine/beer and .50 for soft drinks/water. Sign up for the dinner will be posted in the shed as well. We will be needing a final head count for the dinner by March 4th to arrange for the proper amount of food. Anyone who can help with the food/beverages, please contact Carolyn Reeves at [email protected].

Our treasurer, Mike Caldwell, as sent me this financial information that I would pass on to you, the members.
The club finances are in great shape. We currently have a bank balance of $5939.99. That is after the $549+ bill from Barro Pizza was paid. Regarding the beverage fund, we have taken in $942 in beverage money receipts and we have spent $995.16. That tells me if we have $53 of beverages in the refrigerator and shed, we are way ahead of the game. We are also looking to buy two or three more sets of bowls.
Currently 248 members.
There was a record turnout for the Fun Bowl this past Saturday. Must have been because of the pizza social that followed. That was also a great turnout. We had three leftover pizzas. Club members bought them for $10 each.
Our next social will be after the Novice Tournament in February.
